Thurwood Kennedy

There will be a funeral service 11 AM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Thurwood "Woody" Kennedy who passed away Friday evening at Claire Bridge Cottage. Woody was born December 18, 1929 in Phillipi, WV a son of the late Hayward and Vivian (Mayle) Kennedy. He was a press operator at Youngstown Steel Door for 35 years retiring in 1992. Woody was a member of the First Free Methodist Church in Canfield. He is survived by his wife the former Dorothy Mayle, whom he married December 30, 1949; four children: Rosemary (Richard) Davis of Boca Raton, FL, Starlet (David) Folsom of Austintown, Sandra (Joseph) Sokol of Austintown, and Frederick Kennedy of Youngstown; one sister Vera Mayle of Boardman; one brother Dewey DeVaugh of Lumberton, TX; five grandchildren: Rick (Shannon) Davis, Joe Sokol, Tim Sokol, Matthew Folsom, and Andrea Folsom; and one great grandson Addison Davis. Besides his parents, Woody is preceded in death by Howard and Sarah Kennedy who raised him. The family would like to thank the staff of Claire Bridge Cottage and the staff of Celtic Hospice for their care to the Kennedy family.
