Valjean H Allen

Valjean H. Allen of Niles, OH, died Friday evening at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was 85. Mrs. Allen was born in Holidays Cove, WV on July 13, 1922, a daughter of Herman Richard and Nellie Elizabeth McDonald Hill. She was a 1941 graduate of Follansbee West Virginia High School. Valjean worked at Packard Electric for over 28 years in the assembly division. She retired January 1, 1978. Most of all she loved her family. She also loved her dogs and many hobbies such as crocheting and reading. Mrs. Allen was very artistic in many different ways. Her husband, Robert E. Allen, whom she married April 19, 1941, died February 15, 1986. Survivors include: 2 sons, James R. and his wife Shirley of Niles, OH and David W. and his wife MaryAnn Allen of West Middlesex, PA; 3 grandchildren, David Allen, Jodi Allen, and Gina and her husband Tom Reed.; 2 great grandchildren, Kayla and Chelsey Reed. She was preceded in death by: her parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth L. and Herman D. Hill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home – Niles Chapel 415 Robbins Ave. Calling hours will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
