Velma Hamm 91, entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 23, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Velma was born on Sept. 24, 1922, in Flatwoods, TN, the daughter of Daniel and Emma Ary. She was the youngest of 8 children. On May 26, 1939 she married Richard Hamm. Together they shared 52 years, until his death on July 4th, 1991. Over the years, she had many different and interesting jobs, until her retirement in 1978. She was an active member of the Cortland Church of Christ. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed playing cards, and sewing. She cherished any time she could spend with her family. Her many grandchildren were truly the light of her life. Velma will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Louise (Bob) Lilley of Lakeland, Fl., Ed (Carol) Hamm of Morriston, FL., Faye Hines of Mecca, Carolyn (Larry) Osborne of Cortland, Diane (Joe) Parkinson of Cortland, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel (164 North High St) from 1:00 to 2:00pm. Services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all contributions be made to the Cortland Church of Christ, 2330 Hoagland Blackstub NE, Warren, Ohio 44481.
