Velma Snyder

Velma I Snyder, 95 There will be no services or calling hours for Velma I. Snyder, 95 of Stow Glen Retirement Center, Stow, Ohio formerly of Austintown who died Thursday afternoon at her residence. Velma was born July 30, 1915 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank and Mayme Hamlin Helwig and had been a lifelong area resident until 2001 when she moved to Stow to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Velma graduated from Fitch High School in 1933 and worked as a secretary for Fitch High School and later Youngstown Steel Door. She was a member of Austintown Community Church. Velma enjoyed reading and watching sports on television. She also liked to keep up on current events and cooking for her family. She leaves her daughter, Joyce (Wolfgang) Pelz of Akron. Besides her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her husbands, Edgar De Hoff and Raphael George Snyder and a brother, C.J. Helwig.
