Vera O. Kovach

AURORA- Vera Olga (Tancer) Kovach, 80, passed away Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015. Vera was born on October 1, 1934 in Phalanx Station, OH, daughter to the late Victor and Olga (Newman) Tancer. Vera was a 1952 East Palestine High School Graduate. She went on to receive her Associates Degree from Youngstown State University. Vera worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Children and Family Services, and later worked as a clerk for Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, retiring in 1995. In her retirement, Vera was an active member of her retirement club, Public Employee Retirees Inc. Vera will be remembered as a devout Catholic. She was an active member of several churches, Holy Name of Jesus Church, St. Brendan Catholic Church, and later in life, St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed sewing and baking, but most of all, Vera loved her family and cared greatly for her children and grandchildren. Vera's memory will be carried on by her daughters, Maria (Steven) Lozier, Veronica (Philip) Ratliff, and Kristina Kovach and her life partner Tiffany Mielcarek; her granddaughters, Abigail and Sophia Kovach; her former husband, George Kovach; her sister, Margaret Bush; and her brothers, Victor, John, Joe, and Donald Tancer. In addition to her parents, Vera is preceded in death by her son, Michael Kovach, and her brothers, Andrew, Lou, Frank, and Martin Tancer. The family will receive friends from 4PM-7PM on Thursday, May 21 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Prayers will be held at the Austintown Chapel on Saturday, May 23 at 10AM. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11AM at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Rd. Austintown, OH 44515. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
