Vern Harshman

MINERAL RIDGE Vern Ross Harshman, age 73, of Mineral Ridge passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at his home. Born September 15, 1938 in Bloomfield, Ohio; he was born to Liel and Jenny (Lepper) Welshman; after his parents death, he was adopyed by Willard and Lida (Flint) Harshman. Mr. Harshman retired in 2000 after 40 years of service with WCI Steel, he was a member of VFW Post# 4192 in Mineral Ridge, he was a Boy Scout leader, coached Hot Stove Baseball and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and camping. Survivors include his wife Mary L. (Harden) Harshman, whom he married on July 9, 1966; children: David (Cheryl) Bernard of Mineral Ridge, Charlotte (Jim) Garland of Austintown, Patty (Chuck) Faiola of Niles, Vern (Lisa) Harshman of Pennsville, NJ, Cora (David) DiVencenzo of Girard, and Heidi (Gary) Wayland; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Alta Shetler of Warren, Ray (Lillian) Zedaker of Hubbard, Mary Provence and Cy Harshman both of California, brother in law Les Barthalow of Wisconsin. Besides his parents, Vern was preceded in death by his grandson James Garland, brothers and sisters: Cora Barthalow, Dora Cummings, Buster George Lepper, George Welshman, Nelson Welshman, Ruth Rosenberger, Hazel Beckwith, Oris Sly, and Clifford Welshman. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The family requests the memorials be made to MVI Hospice.
