Veronica Mary Evans

December 15, 1925 — February 15, 2016

Brookfield Veronica Mary Evans, 90, passed away Monday morning, February 15, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Veronica was born on December 15, 1925 in Oxford, England, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Anne (McIntyre) Courtnage. She was of Roman Catholic faith and a member of St. Stanislaus Koska in Sharon, PA. She married her husband Edward Evans, whom she married on June 14, 1944. She moved to the United States in June of 1946 and made her home in Sharon for 37 years before moving to Brookfield in 1981. She found employment as a manager at Perkins in Hermitage, Robert Halls Clothing in Hermitage, and retired from Knott's Interior in Hermitage. She was a former member of the V.F.W. American Legion and the Croatian Club. She had many interests and enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, traveling, and especially enjoyed dancing. She will be deeply missed by her children, Marianne (Gerald) Daugherty of Brookfield and Michael (Carol) Evans of Arizona; five grandchildren, Frank Evans of Florida, Paul (Dana) Evans of Wisconsin, Derick Evans of Florida, Michael McCoy of Sharon, PA, and Kendall McCoy of Masury, OH; one great-grandson, Andrew McCoy of Sharon, PA. She will also be missed by her sister in law Frances Courtnage in England; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Evans who passed away on July 27, 1981, after 37 years of marriage; her two brothers, Edmund and Charles Courtnage; her sisters in law, Anna, Alice, Margaret, Mary, Dolly, and Katherine; and her brothers in law, Andy, George, Tommy, Billy, and Mike. A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 18, 2016 at 7:00PM at Lane Family Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel located at 6923 Warren Sharon Road Brookfield, OH 44403. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Hermitage, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Veronica.
