Vincent H. McGhee, of formerly of Transfer, PA passed away Friday, April 03, 2009 at 06:50AM at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, PA. He was 89 years old. Mr. McGhee was born on March 8, 1920 in Sharpsville, PA the son of Charles McGhee and Irene McWilliams. Vince went on to serve our country as a Technician 4th Grade in the United States Army with the 10th Armored Division during the Second World War. His decorations and citations included: EAME Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. McGhee had worked for the 964 Labor Union in Farrell, Pa as a Laborer until his retirement in 1982. During his life he was known as a great mechanic who could fix anything also could be called upon as a "Jack of All Trades." An avid bowler, he enjoyed being a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Reynolds Lanes. He survived by his niece Sister Mary Stephen Calvin of Erie, PA; and by several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers Claire, Byron, Donald, and Charles, McGhee; two sisters Gladys Neiman and Genevieve Grossman; and two nieces Beverly Glaser and Audrey Tutoki. Services will be held on Monday (04-06-2009) at 3:00PM at the Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, OH where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Rose Cemetery in Hermitage, PA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
