AUSTINTOWN- Virginia "Cooki" Lee (Metlicka) Tompkins, 63, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. She was born on April 1, 1952 in Warren, OH, daughter to the late James and Elsie (Uhman) Metlicka. Cooki was a 1971 Howland High School graduate. She then went to live in Mesa, Arizona, for about 12 years before returning to the area. In 1987, Virginia married William E. Tompkins II and settled him down. She will be remembered as a loving wife and caring mother. Cooki will also be remembered as an accomplished seamstress and embroiderer who enjoyed focusing on applique work. She also enjoyed camping and fishing, often combining the two hobbies by finding nice lakeside campsites. Left to charish Cooki's memory is her loving husband of 28 years, William E. Tompkins II; her children, Regina Babbitt-McManus and William E. Tompkins III; her grandson, Hunter McManus; her brother, David James Metlicka; her sisters, Laura Oakes, and Lillie Stack; her sister-in-law, Diane Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Cooki is preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Babbitt; her brothers, Thomas A., Marc E., and Charles Metlicka; her sister, Elizabeth M. Lauer; and her father and mother-in-laws, William E. I and Francis Tompkins Private family services will be held at a later date.
