Virginia D. Crawford

Virginia D. Crawford, age 97, formerly of North River Road in Howland Twp. died at 3:42 am Monday, March 17, 2008, at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness . She was born December 22, 1910 in Munhall, PA, a borough of Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Andrew C. and Elizabeth H. (Boyer) Lamont. For most of her adult life, she was a resident of Howland Township. Virginia worked as a buyer for Halle Brothers in Cleveland and the Rappold Company in Warren. She also worked in sales at Carlisle's Department Store. Virginia was a volunteer for the Trumbull county branch of the American Red Cross and organized the first chapter of MADD in Trumbull county. She was an active member of Howland Community Church before joining the Howland Glen Baptist Church. Virginia and her late husband, Raymond M. Crawford, whom she married August 11, 1940, enjoyed world-wide travel over many years. He preceded her in death February 25, 1986. She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Letitia) of Starkville, Miss. and Bruce (Elizabeth) of Clinton, Pa.; one daughter, Carol Omar of Ovid, NY; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Denise) Crawford, Geoffrey (Mandy) Crawford and Scott Crawford, Claire Crawford, Aryan Omar, Adryann (Josh) Pemrick and Andrya (Caleb) Heller and six great grandchildren, Layla, Justine, Cailin Crawford and Geoffrey Crawford Jr. and Rowyn and Maddox Pemrick. Virginia was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Suzanne; six brothers, Merrill, Paul, Andrew, Harry, Kenneth and Albert Lamont and one sister, Betty Allan. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren. Funeral services will be held at Howland Glen Baptist Church at 11:30 am Friday, March 21, 2008, where the family will greet friends for one prior to the service. Burial will be at Howland Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MADD or the American Cancer Society.
