Virginia L. Heakin

Virginia L. Heakin, "Ginny", age 79 of Warren, Ohio, died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 3:45 AM at her home with her family by her side. She was born on December 23, 1935 in Meadville, PA, the daughter of the late Walter B. Gunter, Sr. and Nellie Kurinko Gunter Vair. Mrs. Heakin was a life-long homemaker and previously attended Christ Episcopal Church in Warren. Virginia loved landscaping her home with flower gardens, and also feeding humming birds, gold finches, and cardinals. She loved animals, especially her pet cats and dog, Buddy. Survivors include her three sons, Richard D. Heakin of Warren, Samuel R. Heakin, Jr. of Warren, and Jeffrey A. Heakin of Chicago, IL; her siblings, Walter B. (Elaine) Gunter of North Kingsville, Dennis Gunter of Ashtabula, Todd Gunter of Ashtabula, Evelyn Gunter of Lake Milton, and Shirley Eckhardt of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. On May 26, 1956 Virginia was married to Samuel R. Heakin, Sr. and shared 41 years of marriage until his passing on March 30, 1997; her brother, Paul Gunter, and step-father, John S. Vair also preceded her in death. All calling hours and funeral services will be private and Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, Ohio. Pastor Bill Carter will celebrate Virginia's life. Memorial contributions may be sent to the (ASPCA) American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.aspca.org. All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lane Family Funeral Home-Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, Ohio.
