Virginia May Kuhn

Virginia M. (Smith) Kuhn, age 89, of North Bloomfield, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Ohio. She was born on November 11, 1916 in Middleburg Heights, OH. to the late George M. Smith and Ruby (Stubbs) Smith. Mrs. Kuhn was employed by Trumbull County Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service having retired in 1982 after 25 years of service. She attended Mecca Community Church and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Greene Twp., having served as President for over 45 years. She served as past Noble Grand for the Rebecca Lodge, was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, as well as a member of Grange, the Greene Historical Society, and a Charter member of the Greene Vol. Fire Dept. Mrs. Kuhn had served as a 4H Club advisor as well as a volunteer for the Maplewood Elementry School Reading Program. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She married Harland M. Kuhn on April 16, 1936. Harland preceded her in death on July 22, 1983. Mrs. Kuhn is survived by a Son, David R. (Beverly) Kuhn of Greene Twp., a Daughter, Nancy (Jim) Sampson of Greene Twp., Sister, Twila Manes of Greene Twp., Daughter In-Law, Joyce Balogh of Fort Wayne, IND., six Grandchildren, David A. (Charity) Kuhn, Theresa Kuhn, Jennifer D. (Raymond) Hadley, Sharon E. (Daniel) Batyk, Linda M. (James) Tenney, and Adam J. Blackburn, as well as 7 Great Grandchildren and one Niece and one Nephew. She was preceded in death by a Son Dale M. Kuhn and a Brother, Newton Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2006. The VFW Womans Auxiliary will hold services Friday at the Funeral Home at 5:45 PM. Funeral service will be at Mecca Community Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2006 , where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greene Township, Ohio.
