Virginia N. Sando

Virginia N. Sando, age 89 of Lake Vista in Cortland, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 12:50 PM at Vibra Hospital in Warren, Ohio following a brief illness. She was born on May 7, 1924 in Westerville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Wilfred Lyndon and Olive Kent Crooks. She had resided in Cortland since 1953. A loving homemaker, wife and mother, Mrs. Sando was a member of the Cortland United Methodist Church. She once was a Red Cross Volunteer at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, was in the Order of Eastern Star, was active in CCL and the Lakeview Band Boosters. Virginia enjoyed sewing, crafts, cleaning house, baking pies, her grandchildren, and she was an avid sports fan. Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Robert ( Linda) Crow, and Mrs. David (Robin) Mead; four grandchildren, Sandra Crow Mealy, Charlene Crow Theis, Joshua Mead, and Rebecca Mead Castle and five great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sando and her two brothers, Kent and Wilfred "Bill" Crooks. Memorial services will be held at the Cortland United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Vensel will celebrate Virginia's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services Foundation or to the Cortland United Methodist Church.
