Vito J. Mele, Jr

Vito J. Mele Jr., age 90, of Mineral Ridge, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018. Born August 12, 1928 in Oliver, PA.; he was the son of Vito J. and Philomena (Calderone) Mele, Sr. Vito was a member of St Marys Church in Mineral Ridge where he was active in the Mens Club for many years; he enjoyed working in his garden. He loved to be involved in both his childrens, as well as his grandchildrens, various activities. He retired in 1997 from General Motors, and enjoyed getting together with other retirees over the years after retirement. He was well known and loved by many of all generations. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dolores J. (Rabbitt); three children: Mary Ann Papas, Joseph Mele, and Christine (Douglas) Potter; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister Rita Mele. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Richard in 2005, as well as three brothers. Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel on Thursday from 5-8PM, where a brief prayer service will begin at 4:55; and again on Friday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Church in Mineral Ridge. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
