Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Canfield for Wallace R. Fieger, Sr., 80, who died Tuesday evening at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Boardman. He was born December 18, 1928 in Youngstown, the son of Ralph and Dorothy (Wallace) Fieger, and he resided in this area all of his life. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Kent State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He worked in production control for Commercial Intertech for 25 years before his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, and a former longtime member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. He was very active in the Operation Blessing Food Bank, and he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and making homemade chocolate. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret E. Eyster, whom he married June 10, 1961; a daughter Barbara Fieger of Elyria; a son Wallace R., Jr. of Findlay; and three grandchildren; Angie and Brendan Baker, and Taylor Fieger. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rae Kobel. Friends may call from 5-7pm Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Operation Blessing or to Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
