Walter K. Laithwaite

AUSTINTOWN-Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Monday, January 30, 2006 in Old North Church for Walter K. Laithwaite of S. Raccoon Road in Austintown, who passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 24, 2006 while visiting his son in Arizona. Walt was 82. Walt was born on August 18, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio and was the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Goodier) Laithwaite and resided here all of his life. Walt was a 1943 graduate of East High School. Walt was a WWII veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. Walt retired from Republic Rubber/Aeroquip after working for 30 years as a calander man. Walt also worked for Scholls Choffin Sprinkler for 20 years and was currently working for Briel’s Florist in Youngstown, where he has worked for over 20 years. Walt was a member of Old North Church in Canfield and belonged to its Golden Agers. Walt enjoyed bowling and belonged to the Wednesday Night Men’s League and the Thursday Senior League and enjoyed golfing and traveling here and overseas. Walt was married to the former Viola Jean Hargate, whom he married on August 21, 1948, she preceded him in death on March 29, 1999. Walt is survived by his children Kenneth (Olga) Laithwaite of Tucson, AZ, Robert J. (Helen) Laithwaite of Tucson, AZ, David H. Laithwaite of Las Vegas, NV, and Donna M. (Don) Leckburg of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren Philip D. Leckburg, Mindy M. Leckburg, Jeremy J. Leckburg, and Crystal D. Laithwaite; and three great grandchildren Jade, Dane, and Joseph Leckburg. Besides his parents and his wife, Walt was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Laithwaite. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 29, 2006 from 5 until 8 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.and from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2006 at the church.
