Walter Samuel Donitzen Sr.

Austintown-Funeral Services will be held at 11:30AM Saturday, April 23, 2005 in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Walter S. Donitzen Sr., 83, who passed away Wednesday morning in his home. Walter was born on March 13, 1922 in Donegal, Pennsylvania, and was the son of Andrew and Genevieve Donitzen and moved to the area in 1950. Walter was a Rigger for American Bridge and Iron and retired in 1965. Walter was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Central Europe during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade, During his time serving his country, Walter received the American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Walter enjoyed four wheeling, gardening, and was an avid NASCAR and Drag Racing fan, and was a pet lover. Walter was a loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his sons Walter (Kim) S. Donitzen Jr of Austintown, and Wayne (Cindi) Donitzen of Austintown, his grandchildren Steven (Heidi) Donitzen of Mooresville, Indiana, and Jennifer and Amanda Donitzen of Austintown. Walter is also survived by a bother Raymond Donitzen of Donegal, Pennsylvania. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings John and Andrew Donitzen, and Betty Martin, and Anne Radcliff. Family will receive friends from 6 until 9PM Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. Burial will take place in Brunstetter Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to MVI Hospice.
