Walter Vladimer Olejnik, age 76, of Cortland, Ohio, died at Trumbull Memorial Hospital at 7:44 AM on Monday, July 28, 2014. He was born in Dubno, Ukraine on February 28, 1938, the son of the late Peter and Alexandra Olejnik, and migrated to the United States in 1948. Walter graduated from Warren G. Harding in 1957 and attended YSU. He was an honorably discharged US Air Force Veteran serving during peacetime. Mr. Olejnik was a machinist and worked for both ADS Machinery in Warren, and Karter Machine in Akron before retiring. His hobbies were being a perfectionist when tinkering with anything he was doing. He also loved hardware stores. Survivors include his wife, Viginia Workman, whom he married on December 14, 1963; his children, Julie (Chris Brown) Olejnik of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jeffrey (Danielle) Olejnik of Huntington Beach, California; one granddaughter, Charlotte Olejnik; two brothers, Anatole "Andy" Olejnik, and Brian Olejnik. A celebration of life will take place at 6:00 PM, Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.
