There will be a funeral service 11 AM Wednesday at the Western Reserve United Methodist Church for Walter W. Aurin Jr., of Canfield, who passed away Saturday at his home. He was born August 9, 1929 in Sewickley, PA a son of the late Walter W. and Cecilia (Young) Aurin Sr. Walter served in the United States Navy from 1947-1949 on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He worked fro General Motors as a pipefitter from 1966 to 1993, and retired after 27 years. He was a member of the Western Reserve United Methodist Church and of the Saxon Club in Austintown. Walter was an avid golfer, who loved a good auction, building bird houses, reading Louis L'Amour books, but most of all helping others. Walter is survived by his wife the former Joy Toy whom he married July 9, 1949; three children: David Michael Aurin of Salem, Larry Edward (Michelle) Aurin of Ellsworth, and Cynthia D. (Suzanne Holland) Aurin of St. Petersburg, FL; two sisters: Jeanette Briel of Coraopolis, PA, and Lila (Arthur) Benson of Sewickley, PA; one brother: Donald (Pauline) Aurin of Aliquippa, PA; four grandchildren: Michael (Carrie), Courtney, Beth, and Nick; and two great grandchildren: Bailey Rose and Charlie. Besides his parents, Walter is preceded in death by three brothers: Austin, Gilmore, and Carl. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512, in Walter's name. Friends may call from 5 PM until 8 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel and from 10 AM until 11 AM Wednesday at the church prior to the services.
