Warren E. Bartholomew

Warren E. Bartholomew, 85, of Warren, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2007. He died at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born June 10, 1922 in Mercer, PA the son of the late William and Margaret (Nye) Bartholomew. Warren was employed in the automotive industry as a service director for 30 years, retiring from Taylor Oldsmobile in 1983. Warren was a member of the 385th Bomber Group of the 8th Air Force during World War II. He was 20 years old when he graduated from aviator school in December of 1943. He became an accomplished B-17 pilot achieving the rand of Captain in a very short time. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, and numerous air metals for missions in battles at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and The Ardenness. In all, Warren completed 32 combat and 28 weather reconnaissance missions. Warren was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as a trustee and helping with numerous volunteer projects. Warren enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis, gardening and woodworking. He could fix or repair anything and never turned down anyone who needed a helping hand. He also enjoyed going to any activities that his grandchildren were involved in. Most of all, He loved spending time with his family at home and at his cabin in Pennsylvania. Warren will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and many friends. Warren is survived by his beloved wife Julia I. (Redfoot) Bartholomew, to whom he was married 64 years, sons Allan (Janice) of Uniontown, Dennis (Judith) of Cortland, and Marlin (Johanne) of Howland Twp.; his grandchildren Cindy (John) Rashid, Barry (Vicki) Bartholomew, Jennifer (Doug) Dadisman, Jill (Rob) Bieber, and Jordan, Lauren and Jared Bartholomew; great grandchildren Simon, Sam and Ella Bartholomew and Sarah, Jake and Zachary Rashid; a brother Belvin E. (Mary Frances) Bartholomew of Greenville, IL and a sister Alma (Virgil) Plummer of Louisville, KY The Rev. Norman Schinkel will conduct a funeral service Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11AM at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2742 North Rd. NE Warren, OH 44483. Family and friends may visit Friday, November 9th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel and Saturday morning for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
