Warren G. Garner, 81 of Warren, died Saturday, August 5 in the Meyersdale Medical Center at 7:55AM of natural causes. Born November 12, 1924 in Warren, he was a son of the late Samuel J. and Dessa Iola (Nelle) Garner Sr. A 1943 graduate of Howland High School, Warren was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Garner was a veteran of the United State Air Force serving from 1943 to 1946. After an Honorable discharge from the Air Force, Warren went on to become a letter carrier or the U.S. Postal service. He retired in 1984 after 32 years of service. He enjoyed the sunshine and travel, especially trips to Florida. His greatest love, however, was his grandchildren and the time he shared with them. Warren married the former June Marie Cunningham July 12, 1958, she preceded him in death January 4, 1979. He is survived by 5 daughters, Carol June(Bill) Wolfe of Bonita Springs, FL, Diane Foy and Debra Ware both of Niles, Lorri Cindea of Warren, and Dawn (Bill) Mohney of Salisbury, PA, two sisters, LaVerne (Bill) Delaney of Newport Richey, FL and Elizabeth Stone of Warren, a brother, Robert (Elouise) Garner of Cortland, a sister-in-law Clara Garner of Howland Twp., 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Samuel Garner Jr., son-in-law Carl Foy and brother-in-law Ray Stone. Warren was also preceded in death in 1998 by his companion of 15 years, Ruth Lavelle. Abiding by Warren’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or a funeral service and cremation will take place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel.
