Wilhelmina Sophie Theis

Austintown- Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Austintown for Wilhelmina Sophie Theis who died early Saturday morning at the Victoria House where she had lived for the last year. Wilhelmina was born December 28, 1921 in Youngstown the daughter of Martin and Sophie (Hansel) Eberth. Wilhelmina was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Card Ministry program. She had formerly been a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of Saxon Club Branch 22, AARP 4339, Notables Chorus and Highway Tabernacle Sr. Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, needlework and crafts. She retired in 1983 from Austintown Strouss Department store where she had been a clerk for 15 years and was a member of the Strouss Retirees Group. Wilhelmina loved her family. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren Wilhelmina will be missed by her children; Patricia A. (Josef) Heini of Austintown, Carole A. Bixler of Niles, Gerald W. (Lyn) Theis of Cincinnati, and Rev. Joel J. (Joan) Theis Sr. of Austintown. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Joan C. Gent of Austintown, one brother Michael E. Eberth of Perris, CA., twenty grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William C. Theis whom she married September 29, 1940 and who died June 14, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her son Jeffrey M., sister, M. Louise Biastro and brother Martin Eberth Jr. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and from 10-11 am Wednesday at the church prior to services. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Grace Church Memorial Fund or Hospice of the Valley. The family would like to thank the staff of the Victoria House for the expert and loving care given to Wilhelmina during her time there.
