Canfield- Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Thursday at the Canfield United Methodist Church for Willard R. Fankhauser, 90, who died Monday morning at his residence. Willard was born August 26, 1919 in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of Harry and Iva Jane (Ross) Fankhauser. He was a member of the Canfield United Methodist Church, an avid sailor, belonging to the Berlin Yacht Club, and a member of the Canfield Ruritan Club. He also volunteered for Operation Blessing in Canfield. Willard enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and dancing with his wife at Colony Club. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer for US Steel Ohio Works, retiring in 1977. He graduated from Bellaire High School and received his Electrical Engineering Degree from Case Western Reserve University. Will served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee, serving in the South Pacific and Alaska. Will was very proud of his family and cherished family gatherings. He is survived by his children, Sandy (Velton) Jenkins of Diamond, Lynne Yost of Canfield, Ron (Terry Cloonan) Fankhauser of Canfield, Ric (Carolyn) Fankhauser of Canfield, Judy (Hal) Walker of Canfield, Mary Jane (David) Sciortino of Boston; seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and his daughter in law Loretta Schulz. He was preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Ann (Kicina) Fankhauser, whom he married in 1941. She passed away in 1959. His second wife Virginia (Thomas) Fankhauser whom he married in 1961 passed away in 2009. His son Terry Schulz and his son-in-law Dan Yost. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7pm Wednesday evening at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel and from 12:30 until time of services Thursday at the church.
