There will be a funeral service 1 PM Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown for William A. Cruikshank who passed away at the Hospice House. He was born August 5, 1918 in Bellevue, PA a son of the late William A. and Adeline Cruikshank Sr.. William was a credit manager for Truscon Steel and then in the 1960’s became a teacher. He taught at Cleveland Elementary, Canfield Middle School, and retired as Principal of Canfield Middle School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and his master’s from Westminster College. William was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. His wife the former Ruth Boldt, whom he married August 14, 1943, passed away in 1996. He is survived by his sister in law Martha Standley and her husband Dale of Salem; a nephew Dale Standley Jr. and his wife Davene of Salem; and a niece Marsha Osborn and her husband Craig of Madison, AL. Friends may call from 6 PM until 8 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel and from 12 PM until the time of the service Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512 or Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Rd., Youngstown, OH 44511, in William’s name.
