William A. Miller

Memorial services will be 11 AM Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge for William A. Miller who passed away Monday at Briarfield at the Ridge. Bill was born May 19, 1918 in Butler, PA, a son of the late Roy and Ona (Patterson) Miller. He served in the United States Navy in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1980 from Republic Steel as an Electrical Foreman, after 43 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, VFW Post 4192 in Mineral Ridge, and the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton. Bill was a founding member of the Mineral Ridge Fire Department. His wife the former Ruth M. Newhard, whom he married April 26, 1939, passed away August 18, 2008. He is survived by a daughter Connie (Al) Darby of Austintown; a son Bill (Peg) Miller of Mineral Ridge; one brother Kenneth Miller of Champion; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by a daughter: Patty Lynn Zocolo; three sisters: Lorna Kennedy, Garnet Peterson, and Alda Wilson; and three brothers: Eugene, Donald, and Roy Miller. The family would like to thank the staff at Briarfield at the Ridge for the loving care provided to Bill. Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.
