William B Claney

William B. Claney, Jr. 70 formerly of Warren, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born on October 1, 1944, in Homestead, PA, son of the late Rev. Dr. William B. Claney Sr. and Edna Louise (Hughes) Claney. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and was the former Chief of Police in Jamestown, PA. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 32nd Degree Mason. William was retired from Copperweld Steel Company where he was a Lieutenant on the plant security. Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Purton Claney; sisters Nancy L. (John) Johnson of Edinboro, PA; Carol J. (Conrad) Koehler of Greenville, PA and a brother-in-law Patrick W. (Mary Rose) Purton of Struthers, OH. Bill was privileged to be a part of the lives of 8 nieces and nephews, 17 great- nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Dr. William B. and Edna Louise, and parents-in-law, William E. Purton and Sarah F. (Savage) Purton. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St. , Warren, OH, from 9 a.m. 11 a.m.. The memorial service will follow at the church beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ann Marie Winters officiating. William's final resting place will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Columbarium. Donations may be made in memory of William to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St., Warren, OH 44483.
