William C. Connell

Services will be held at 4 pm Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for William C. Connell, 71 of Austintown who passed away Thursday evening in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Bill was born August 4, 1934 in Youngstown the son of Raymond Sr. and Edna (Peake) Connell and was a life long area resident. He worked as a loader in the shipping department of Republic Steel for 30 years retiring in 1985. Bill was an Army Veteran serving from 1957 until 1959. He attended Smith Corners Church, and was a car enthusiast, enjoying street rods, drag and stock car racing, as well as gardening. Bill leaves his wife the former Janet Gates, whom he married October 27, 1956, one daughter Darla (Gary) Landers of Dayton, two brothers; Raymond Jr. (Bobbie) of Austintown, and Robert (Wilma) of Youngstown, three grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a sister Helen McKay. Family and friends may call from 3 to 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
