William C. Theis

AUSTINTOWN- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wed. in Grace Lutheran Church for William C. Theis age 86 of 5530 Norquest Blvd. who died Sat. afternoon at North Side Hospital. Bill was born Feb. 16, 1917 in Youngstown and was the son of William and Hazel (Kersey) Theis and was a 1937 graduate of Rayen High School. He had owned and operated Cleveland Furniture & Hardware on Federal St. in Youngstown and retired from General Fireproofing in 1982 where he had been a security guard. He had formerly been a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he had been church treasurer and sang in the choir for 45 years. He was a member and past president of Austintown A.A.R.P. #4339 and its Noteable chorus. Bill had served in the U.S. Army as a hospital corpsman from 1942-46, had been in the Austintown Minstrel for four years. He was a member of the ATS Saxon Society and was presently a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he had sung in the choir for 16 years. Bill is survived by his wife Wilhelmina “Min” (Eberth) Theis whom he married Sept. 29, 1940. He also leaves two daughters Patricia A. (Josef) Heini of Austintown, Carole A. Bixler of Niles, two sons, Gerald W. (Lyn) Theis of Sterling Hgts. MI, Pastor Joel J. (Joan E.) Theis of Austintown, two daughter-in-laws Joan C. Theis of Austintown, Kathy Theis of Sardinia, OH, 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey M. Theis and a sister Edna H. Mueller. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to services Wed. at the church. The family requests that material contributions take the form of donations to the Memorial Fund of the church.
