William D. Lewis Sr., 80, of State Route 5, Braceville, left this earth Tuesday, May 9, 2006 to be with his beloved wife, Nora. Born March 16, 1926 in Warren, he was the son of “Hi” and Gertrude Lewis. A lifetime Warren area resident, Mr. Lewis was a veteran of United States Navy. He retired in 1981 after 30 years of service from Thomas Steel Strip Corp. where he worked as a general foreman. He was a member of the Warren area Moose Lodge, the NAUS club, the VFW and was a 5 decade member of the Thomas Steel golf league. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, traveling, especially taking trips to Florida, swimming, but most of all he enjoyed his family and loved spending his time with children and his grandchildren. William married Nora Sullivan February 12, 1946. Together they shared 35 years of marriage and had 9 children. Nora preceded him in death October 1, 1981. He will be fondly remembered as a loving Dad, “Gramps”, and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his children, Eight loving daughters, Kathleen M. Lonardo of Denver, CO, Terry Lee (John) Povoluski of Cortland, Mary Anne (John) Murphy of Richfield, OH, Trudi (Gary) Krugh and Cindy (Gary) Hendrick both of Braceville, Nora “Noni” Lewis of Denver, CO, Tina Brown of Nevada, Billie Jo (Darrell) Brammer of Cortland, and by his only son, William D. (Tami) Lewis Jr. of Bel Air, MD, 23 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and by a brother Jack Lewis of Southington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, and by two brothers, Walter Sullivan and Harmon Harvey Lewis. Calling hours will beheld Friday, May 12, 2006 from 6 to 9PM at The Roberts Clark Funeral Chapel. Rev. Byron Powers will conduct a funeral service Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 11AM at the funeral home.
