William E "Bill" Crawford

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, at 6:00 P.M. at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, for William E. Crawford, who died Friday at Briarfield Manor in Austintown. He was born April 26, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Nora Carter Crawford and William B. Crawford. He graduated in 1959 from Austintown Fitch High School and then attended Youngstown University. He played football for Austintown Fitch and was an All Steel Valley Guard. In 2009, his team was inducted into the Austintown Fitch Football Hall of Fame. He served in the Army from 1962 to 1965. Upon being Honorably Discharged from service, he went to work at General Motors Lordstown and retired as a Supervisor in 2000. He is a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity at YSU; he was a G.A. Member for 33 years and he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Langley Crawford; his two sons, William E. Crawford, Jr. and Scott P. Crawford; his two daughters-in-law, Jeanette M. Crawford and Anne Frederick Crawford; and his three grandchildren: Joseph W. Crawford, Scott F. Crawford and Kara Ellen Crawford, and his extended family, Martyn P. and Elaine Moss. He is also survived by a brother, David R. (Margaret) Crawford, a brother-in-law, T. Gordon Welsh and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel.
