William Edward Masters M.D., 74, of 1143 Genesee NE Warren, OH died 7:10 PM Saturday Aug.19, 2006 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born Sept.16, 1931 in Warren the son of the late George William and the late Mildred Hitchcock Masters. He attended Leavittsburg High School from the 1st through the 9th grade, and he graduated from the Tennessee Military Institute in Sweetwater, TN in 1949. He obtained his B.S. degree from Albright College in Reading, PA in 1953 and his M.D. degree from Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia in 1957. Dr. Masters received his Ohio Medical License in 1957 and served his residency at Huron Rd. Hospital in Cleveland from 1957 until 1960 when he came to Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He had an active Anesthesia practice at TMH from 1960 until his retirement due to disability in 1995. He received his Fellowship in the American College of Anesthesiology in 1961 and he became a Diplomate American Board of Anesthesiology in 1964. He was Chief of the Anesthesiology Dept. for 12 years. Dr. Masters also was Medical Director and Chief of Anesthesia Services for Austintown Ambulatory Surgical Center, Inc., in Youngstown from 1980 to 1984. He was a member of The American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, Trumbull County Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists. His hobbies included golf and music. He enjoyed playing the trombone and was a founding member of the Top Notes orchestra. He was a member of the Trumbull Country Club and Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church of Niles. He is survived by his wife Marion C. Masters whom he married in 1990, 5 children, William Blake Masters and wife Mary of Kinsman, Robert Brent Masters of Cincinnati, Jeffrey Edward Masters of Niles, Mona Jean Sheehan and husband Matthew of Cleveland, Edward John “EJ” Masters of Cleveland, and 3 step-sons Robert David Cook, Ronald William Cook, and David E. Cook all of Warren. He also leaves sisters Roberta M. Davis and husband Leo and Joan M. Boden both of Warren, 3 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday Aug. 23, 2006 at Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church in Niles. Pastor James Urb will officiate. Friends will be received from 6:00-9:00PM Tuesday at Roberts-Clark Chapel. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
