William F. Hodgkiss

William F. Hodgkiss, age 87, of Bradenton, FL, died Monday, May 09, 2011 at the Woodlands Village Assisted Living in Bradenton, FL. He was born on September 22, 1923, a son of the late Raymond Hodgkiss and the late Sibbit Baird Hodgkiss. William was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII and had worked as a millwright at Copperweld Steel for 30 years. Prior to working at Copperweld, William had worked as a mechanic for Penn Transit Bus Co. in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a member of both the Elks and the Moose Lodge in Zephyrhills, FL. He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia L. Hodgkiss of Bradenton, FL, two sons, William �Rusty� (Sarah) Hodgkiss of Southington and Michael Hodgkiss of Warren, two brothers, Donald Hodgkiss of Champion and Leo Hodgkiss of Johnston and three sisters, Helga Stepp of Scottsdale, PA, Catherine Lowstetter of Corona, CA, and Beverly Sterret of Connellsville, PA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren William was preceded in death by two wives, Doris L Breegle Hodgkiss and Litta Yoder Hodgkiss and two brothers, Charles and Eugene Hodgkiss. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 11am to 1pm at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. Funeral Services will be at 1pm Friday at the funeral home.
