William H Latham, Sr., age 82 of Ashland, died on Monday afternoon, May 16, 2011, at Crystal Care Center in Ashland, Ohio. He was born August 9, 1928 in Warren, the son of the late Fred H. and Beulah Ginther Latham Sr. He was raised and lived in Howland Township most of his life. Bill was a 1946 graduate of Howland High School. He retired in 1986 from Republic-LTV Steel, where he worked as an electrician for 39 years. Bill was a member of the Niles Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping, hunting and woodworking and enjoyed being a handyman around the house. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laverne S. Palm Latham, whom he married August 27, 1948; one daughter, Sarah J. Kerro of Huron; two sons, William H. (Barb) Latham Jr. of Ashland and Ronald (Pam) Latham of Cumming, Ga.; six grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Kerro Jr.; Matthew, Jeffrey, Scott, Lucas and Tyler Latham; three great grandchildren, Emma, Andrew and Alexis Kerro and one sister, Barbara Latham of Howland. Three sisters, Marie Varley, Loleta Palette and Betty Fry and two brothers, Fred Latham Jr. and Donald Latham have all preceded him in death. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011. Pastor Glenn Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1815 West Market St., Suite 301, Akron, OH 44313.
