William Harold Sawtelle

William Harold “Bill” Sawtelle, 81 of Hartford passed away Wednesday at 9:15pm July 8, 2009 at Briarfield at the Ridge. Bill was born on August 8, 1927 in Coalport, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Charles and Ella (Wise) Sawtelle. Bill served in the armed forces during World War II. He moved to the area in 1954 where he worked as a truck driver for Van Huffel Tube retiring in 1989 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and was mechanically inclined. Bill married his wife, the former Betty McConnell November 26, 1948. Together they shared 53 years of marriage. Betty preceded Bill in death on June 26, 2004. He is survived by his three sons; William J. (Karen) Sawtelle of Brookfield, Dennis C Sawtelle of Cookeville, Tennessee, and Randy Sawtelle of Niles; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother Leo Sawtelle of Newton Falls, and a sister Pearl Jones of Gypsy, Pennsylvania. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, and a son Robert Sawtelle. A private family service will be held at a later date.
