William "Hoggie" S. Harris

William "Hoggie" Stephen Harris, Sr., 79, passed away on Friday evening, May 20, 2016 at St. Joseph Healthcare Center in Warren, Ohio. He was born on June 26, 1936 in Warren, Ohio, son of the late Arthur and Kathryn (Welsh) Harris. Bill married his wife Velma "June" (Costello) Harris on April 7, 1958 in Warren, Ohio. He worked in automation at Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1998. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps for three years where he served as a sharpshooter. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton-SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Warren. Bill was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, loved animals and enjoyed playing the lottery. His true passion in life however, was his family. He loved the time they spent together, whether visiting at his home, playing horseshoes with his sons, or swimming in the pool. No matter what he was doing he was laughing about life and making jokes all the while. He also was known by some as "Buzzy" and as someone who delivered flowers with smiles! Left to celebrate Bill's memory are his loving wife of 58 years, June Harris; sons, Bob (Amy) Harris of Erie, PA and Benny Harris of Warren; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Norma) Harris, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son, William "Bill" S. Harris, Jr., who passed on April 19, 2015; sister, Sally Douglas and brother-in-law, Denny Douglas. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, at 6:00 PM. Family and friends may gather prior to services at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00PM. Donations may be made in memory of Bill to the Animal Welfare League, PO Box 66, Vienna, Ohio 44473.
