William J. Bevins

Youngstown-Private funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown for William Bevins who died Saturday afternoon at the Hospice House. William was born March 4, 1927 in Allegheny, PA. the son of Albert and Grace (Welch) Bevins and was a life long area resident. Bill was employed in shipping and receiving for Wean United for 27 years until an injury forced him to retire in 1986. He was a gunner's mate in the US Navy during WWII. Bill enjoyed bowling, playing cards, Mountaineer Race Track, archery, antique cars and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Lucas) Bevins whom he married July 8, 1950, daughters; Linda (David) Frease of Canfield and Terry (Richard) Donnan of Austintown. Bill is also survived by his sister Rita Blake of Arlington, TX., grandson Richard Donnan of Brookfield, numerous nieces and nephews and his loving dog Bootsie. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Bevins family would like to thank all the wonderful staff of the Hospice House for their tender loving care given to William and his family and to his many wonderful neighbors. There are no calling hours. The family requests memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Hospice House.
