William J Rowland

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Rd., Canfield for William J. Rowland, Jr., 71 of Canfield who died early Wednesday morning at Northside Medical Center. William, known as “Bill” was born June 5, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late William J. and Hollis F. Stash Rowland, Sr. and was a lifelong area resident. Bill graduated from South High School in 1959 and served in the Army 101st Airborne Division. He had been a carpenter for 50 years and retired from B & B Contractors and Developers. He was a member of the church, the Carpenter’s Local #171 for over 50 years. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and pets. He leaves his wife, the former Norma C. McGinnis whom he married September 25, 1965; two sons, William D. (Joy) Rowland of Youngstown, Michael P. (Amy) Rowland of Monaca, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Alexander and Zoe and two sisters, Patricia Waller of Youngstown and Dorothy Halatek of Arizona. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, James Stash and two brothers-in-law. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home. Austintown, chapel and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
