William H. "Monk" Moy, 64 of Vienna, died Sunday morning, May 26, 2013, at Wade Park Campus of Louis Stokes Veterans Medical Center in Cleveland. He was born December 11, 1948 in Warren, the son of the late Henry and Betty Jane Davies Moy. He was raised in Fowler and was a lifetime Trumbull county resident. Monk was a graduate of Mathews High School, then served from 1967 to 1970 in the Army in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign and Good Conduct medals and was awarded The Soldiers Medal for heroism displayed in the Republic of Vietnam on Sept. 17, 1969. He co-owned and operated M & P Contracting for several years doing gas well excavation and retired from Kirila Construction in Brookfield. Monk was a member of Copper Penny Masonic Lodge No. 778 in Vienna, the Amvets Post No. 290 in Vienna and VFW Post No.3521 in Vienna. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flower and vegetable gardening and was a history buff. He is survived by two sons, Jesse L. Moy of Vienna and Cpl. Craig M. Moy with the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; his former wife, Debbie Lynn Moy of Vienna and one brother, James C. Moy of Cape Coral, Fla. One brother, Dennis L. Moy preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, and also one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Cathy Ake will officiate and military honors will be accorded. Copper Penny Lodge will conduct masonic services at 7:45 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
