William O. Acri

A private Memorial Mass was held for William O Acri at St. Joseph Church in Austintown. William Acri, known as "Bill" to his family and friends passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 with his family at his side. William was born November 25, 1915 to James Acri and Maria Lewis. William grew up on the Eastside of Youngstown where he met his beloved wife Helen. He attended East High School and worked for Renner's Brewing Company many years before opening his own company Miller High Life Distributors in 1951. Later he went to work for Lipton Brewing Company before retiring in the 1970's. William served in World War II; he was shipped to Germany and served his country well. His occupational specialty was rifleman. He received the Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal and the Victory Medal. William was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Austintown. William loved to work with his hands and helping others with projects. He leaves behind to hold on to his memories his beloved daughters Donna (Robert L.) Greco of Hubbard, Lois (Richard) Ozuna of Las Vegas, Nevada, A loving son James Acri of Austintown. His grandchildren, Anthony (Susan) Greco, Helen Marie (Mark) Semanovich, Charlene (Michael) DePalma all of Hubbard, Anthony (Roula) Pasquine of Henderson, Nevada, Debra (Mark) Chopp of Austintown, James (Lori) Pasquine of Poland, 10 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, the former Helen Marie Sammartino, whom he married June 17, 1936, she passed away May 22, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Michael, Jack and Lee, and sisters Mildred, Jessie, Annette and Fonci, as well as two infant siblings. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Grace Hospice of Ohio, 7330 Southern Blvd., Suite #3, Youngstown Ohio 44512 Arrangements were by Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
