William Orrin Ridenour

William Orrin Ridenour, age 88 of Fowler Township, died at 10:53 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2011, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born February 14, 1922 in Canfield, the son of the late Carl Alton and Elizabeth C. Tate Ridenour. He was formerly of West Middlesex, Pa. Bill was a 1940 graduate of Apollo High School in Apollo, Pa. and served in the U.S. Navy submarine service as a gunner's mate in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He then worked for Republic Steel for several years and retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Youngstown, where he worked as a filler operator in the bottling department for 22 years. Bill was a member of the Presbyterian Church in New Bedford, Pa. He was a life member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of WWII-Three Rivers Chapter in Pittsburgh. He was an avid golfer after retirement and he and his wife enjoyed playing cards with friends. Bill loved spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Donna B. Moyer Ridenour, whom he married March 21, 1951; one son, Earl L. Smith of St. Charles, Ill.; three daughters, Marjorie J. (Gary) Stiles of Boardman, Patricia A. (Gary) Peigowski with whom he made his home in Fowler and Carol D. (Kenneth) Dean of Fulton, Mississippi; five grandchildren, John Ferguson, Kathy Ferguson, Kelley Stiles, Stephanie (Jim) Colello and Samantha Peigowski and two great grandchildren, John Ferguson Jr. and Cheyann Ferguson. One sister, Wilda A. Grady preceded him in death Dec. 16, 2008 and one brother, Robert A. Ridenour died in infancy. There will be a private graveside service at a later date at Neshannock Cemetery in New Wilmington, Pa. According to Bill's wishes cremation has taken place.
