William P. Espy, Sr.

William P. "Bill" Espy, Sr., formerly of Hubbard, passed away with his family by his side at 3:20AM Saturday, October 24, 2009 in his home in Masury following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was 64. Bill was born September 25, 1945 in Sharon, PA the son of the late Charles Donald and Assundy (Pauline) Espy. Bill worked as a stool maker for Valley Mold and Iron and after its closing, Bill went on to work part-time as a funeral attendant with the Harold Stevenson Funeral Home in Sharon and the Reed Stevenson Funeral Home in Sharpsville. Bill loved woodworking and collecting sport cards and coins. He belonged to the Uecker Club, Sharpsville Pedigrees Bowling League and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. He was married to the former Donna C. Collins on August 21, 1965, who survives and together they shared the love of three children Kimberly (Michael) Bingham of Niles, William P. Espy Jr. of Masury and Donald (Jenny) Espy of Masury; six grandchildren Kyle Espy, Marissa Kettering, Robert and Brandon Bingham, and twins Audrianna and Amber Espy; a brother Donald (Charlotte) Espy of Dayton and a sister Shirley (David) Steinis of Michigan. Calling hours will take place on Monday, October 26, 2009 from 5 until 7PM in the Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, OH. A funeral service celebrating the life of Bill will take place on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11AM in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to either the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Valley.
