William Reed Hartman Jr.

October 19, 1918 — July 9, 2005

North Lima-Funeral Services will be held at 10AM Wednesday in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel with the Rev. Bradley Jagger officiating for William Reed Hartman Jr., formerly of Lynn Rd. in North Lima, who passed away at 11:50PM Saturday in Ron Joy Nursing Home. He was 86. William was born in Youngstown, OH on October 19, 1918 and was the son of William Reed and Sarah (Hollander) Hartman Sr. and lived in the area all of his life. William retired in 1983 after working for 30 years as a foreman at Youngstown Welding and Engineering. William also worked for Smith Diary in Boardman, where he drove milk truck and worked in the office. William was a veteran of the United States Army 82nd Airborne division having fought in World War II. William was a charter member of the Cleveland Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division, and was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. William was an avid hunter and fisherman. William is survived by his children, William Reed Hartman III of Akron, OH, Barbara Jean (Jerry) Thomas of Boardman, Trena (Joseph) Procick of Berlin Center, and Lorry (David John) Lindquist of North Lima; four sisters Esther Wilson of Austintown, Hazel Athey of Boardman, Mary Louise Williams of Kokomo, Indiana, and Thelma Brickley of Marshall, Va.; two brothers Raymond Hartman of Canfield, and Robert L. Hartman of Canfield; nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Ladigo, Irene Hartman, and Eleanor Hartman, and a brother Harold J. Hartman. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boardman.
