William Vaughn Clary

William V. Clary, age 87, of West Mecca Twp., Ohio, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at his residence. He was born on February 20, 1920 in Phalanx, Ohio, the son of the late William B. Clary and the late Norma (Copeland) Clary. Mr. Clary was a member of the West Mecca United Methodist Church and had served in the United States Army during WWII. William was employed by Central Transport where he worked as a truck driver, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Cortland Moose Lodge, Rod and Gun Club and the Retired Teamsters. He is survived by his wife Glarea "Rita" V. (Sponsler) Clary, whom he married on September 4, 2005. One son, Norman "Skip" V. Clary of West Mecca and one sister, Grace (Charley) Svrcek of Bryan, Texas. Mr. Clary was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Louise Clary on December 22, 1999. Also preceding him in death was a brother, John Clary and three sister, Dorothy, Margaret and Georiga. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 5 PM - 7 PM on Wednesday, October 24, 2007. A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25, 2005 at 11 AM. Interment will be at West Mecca Cemetery.
