William "Willie" Raimondi

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Wednesday at St. Christine Church for William "Willie" Raimondi, 90, of Austintown formerly of New York. Willie passed away Saturday March 26, at Heritage Manor Care Center. He was born September 30, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Onoforio and Rosina (Ingannamorti) Raimondi. He was a member of St. Christine Church. Willie was an Army Veteran of WWII serving at the Battle of the Bulge with the 82nd Airborne. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Willie's hobbies included fishing, boating, gardening and gambling. He was a wonderful man, good to everyone he met with a great sense of humor. Willie was the owner and operator of Savano Family Foods in Long Island, NY. He leaves his second wife and good friend, the former Gloria Panza -Sorvillo whom he married September 11, 2010, one daughter Rosalee Brandine of Huntington, NY, two step children John (Carol) Burnett of Saxonburg, and Rose (Mickey) Grubbs of Austintown, 8 grandchildren, Luca Brandine, Marie Fisher, Paul and Daniel Yakubov, John and Greg Waller, and Noah and Rachel Burnett, as well as one sister, Rose Sensi of Florida, 8 sisters-in-law, Mary Raimondi, and Isabel Raimondi, Jo-Ann (Frank) Degoey, Mary Curao, Josephine (Rich) Cataffa, Deloris (Pat) Valentino, Lisa Zicardi, and Clara Sorvillo, 2 brothers-in-law, Frank Panza, and Angelo (Donna) Sorvillo. Willie also leaves many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Besides his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, the former Marie Savano, two brothers, Pat and Sam and two sister Fran and Mary. Friends may call from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM Wednesday at the church where a mass will begin at 11 AM. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and aids at Heritage Manor and Crossroads Hospice for the care and support given to Willie and his family during his last few days, especially Shirley, Niki, Jessica, Elaina and rest of the staff. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either Crossroads Hospice or to Heritage Manor in Willie's name.
