Alex “Shun” Gergely of 7880 Orangeville Rd., Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, died Sunday (1-22-2006) at home following a sudden illness. He was 80. Mr. Gergely was born in Daiseytown, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1925, a son of Andrew and Julia (Szopo) Gergely. He served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army as a Surgical Technician. His decorations & citations included: American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, WWII Victor Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal. For over 30 years, Alex worked for Sharon Steel as a crane operator. He was a hard worker and a faithful husband. In his spare time, Alex enjoyed spending time with his buddies @ E-Z’s Tavern. Survivors include: sister, Margaret Gargo, Hermitage, Pennsylvania; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deloris L. (Miller) Gergely, they married 11-13-1948, she died 1-13-2003; his brothers, Steve, Andy & Tom Gergely; and his sister, Rose Stover. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, with Rev. Dan Cesene, officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 PM.
