Atty. William J. Kish

Atty. William J. Kish, of Canfield, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 2:13 p.m. at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina of complications after a lung transplant. He was 70 years old. Mr. Kish was born on January 28, 1941 in Youngstown the son of the late Joseph W. and Margaret "Peg" (Kondas) Kish. Mr. Kish was a 1958 graduate of Chaney High School and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1963 from Youngstown University. Mr. Kish furthered his education attending the University of Akron School of Law and graduated in 1970 with a Juris Doctor Degree. He was self-employed as an attorney in Canfield for over 35 years and merged his practice with Newman, Olson & Kerr upon his retirement. Mr. Kish was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman. He was a passionate golfer and played on the YSU golf team while attending college. He was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, where he was the reunion co-chairman for 11 years. Mr. Kish also was a 50 year member of the Youngstown YMCA Golf League; serving for several years as president. He was a member of the Youngstown District Amateur Invitational Golf Association, Canfield Athletic Booster Club; serving as president for 6 years; and was a Western Reserve Village Trustee for 15 years. He was a member of the Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Mr. Kish is survived by his wife of 45 years the former Mary Katherine McClure, whom he married on June 11, 1966 and together they shared the love of two sons William Joseph Kish, Jr. (Christine) of Auburn, California and John David Kish (Shannon) of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by a sister Peggy Jo (Thomas) Tremonte of Londonderry, New Hampshire. Along with his parents, Mr. Kish was preceded in death by his brother Robert A. Kish. Calling hours will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 10 until 11 a.m. all at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St. Canfield, Ohio 44406. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel with Rev. Paul Burgeson presiding.
