There will be a funeral service 10 AM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel for Barbara Thomas, of McDonald, who passed away Sunday morning at Hospice House. Barbara was born April 25, 1932 in Mineral Ridge, a daughter of the late John and Theda (Widdowson) Minto. She was a postal clerk at the McDonald Post Office for 25 years and a member of the McDonald First Baptist Church. Barbara was a member of Holburn Herb Growers Guild, was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher, was a member of the Canfield Fair Antique Tractor Club, and a past member of the Mineral Ridge PTA. Barbara enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, swimming with her family, babysitting, farming, the Canfield Fair, and going to church. Barbara is survived by Paul A. Thomas, whom she married May 19, 1951; three children: Marjorie (Robert) Adair, John (Joyce) Thomas, and Paula (Eric) Hoffman all of McDonald; a daughter in law Hope Thomas of McDonald; two sisters: Bernice (David) Williams of Tampa, FL, and Marge (Bill) Evans of McKeesport, PA; a brother Everett (Alberta) Minto of Austintown; ten grandchildren: Jason, Rob, Heather, Jonathan, Barb, Stephanie, Paul, John Luke, Heidi, Claire; and nine great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by a son Jay Thomas, and a sister Gaynell Patterson. Friends may call from 6 -8 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
