Beryl Hovis

February 16, 1920 — August 26, 2013

Beryl D. Hovis, age 93 of Lake Milton passed away at her residence today, August 26, 2013. Born February 16, 1920 in Hillards Corners, PA to parents, John and Lottie (Seelbaugh) Montgomery. Beryl married Paul G.E. Hovis on February 21, 1938 and together they shared 56 years of marriage until his death on August 17, 1994. Beryl was a devoted wife, mother and grandma. Besides her family, she had a great love for books, writing, and researching family history. She had a great love for Jesus and was one of the cofounders in establishing the Presbyterian Church in Lake Milton. She was very active in many organizations helping women and children through the church. She enjoyed gospel music, and played the organ and guitar. Beryl enjoyed many hobbies which included sewing, gardening, and was a self taught carpenter, who was very handy with a saw. Beryl even built her own cabinets in her home, picnic table and several docks on Lake Milton for her children and the children of the neighborhood. She also enjoyed baking bread and making candy. Over the years she collected over 2000 dolls. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping in the hills of PA. One of her favorite things was enjoying a "Big Mac" as often as she could. Survivors include her children; Marion (Frank) Yaratch, Deerfield, LaRee (Robert) Munger, Ravenna, Peggy Ries, Lake Milton, Timothy (Solo) Hovis, Diamond, brother; James Montgomery, Shalersville, sister; Beryl Ivell, Harrisville, PA., 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death her husband, sons; Robert and Larry, daughter; Charlotte Kale, sister; Mabel McGinnis Bennett, brothers; Ronald, John, and Boyd Montgomery. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Hospice of the Valley for their loving care of their mother, and family received during this difficult time. A very special thank you to Beryl's granddaughter, Renee' Krbec for all the comfort and care she gave. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 5-7pm at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11am at the funeral homes. Interment will be held at Deerfield Cemetery.
