Betty Jean Wilson

Betty Jean Wilson, age 87 of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 4:35 PM at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. She was born on January 8, 1928 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Cecil R. and Florence D. Burrows Cottrill. Betty was a member of Woodland Park United Methodist Church in McDonald. In her later years, she loved to feed the birds and keep in touch with her family. In her younger years she and her husband spent a great deal of time with each other and loved traveling to Lake Erie and the Outer Banks. Most of all she was a major entertainer for her friends and especially her family. She loved to cook for everyone, as she was good-hearted and very generous. There wasn't a family get together that she didn't cook. She loved family time with her son and daughter-in-law, and especially her best friend, her grandson, Daaron. She and Daaron, her pride and joy, would do many, many things together including going to different restaurants and shopping. Survivors include her son, John R. (Cay E.) Wilson of Niles; her grandson, Daaron A. Wilson of Niles; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she was very fond of. Other than her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Wilson on January 22, 2005, they were united in marriage on January 1, 1948; her siblings, Beulah Sandy, Loretta Wiggins, Beatrice Waldeck, Harold, Delbert, Leon, and Melvin Cottrill, and four in infancy. Graveside memorial services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Kerr Cemetery Chapel in Weathersfield Twp., where Pastor Ronald F. Maurer will celebrate Betty's life. Lane Family Funeral Homes-Mineral Ridge Chapel has been entrusted with the services.
