Betty L. Adgate 81, of Champion Twp. died at 2:20 PM Monday April 17, 2006 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct.16, 1924 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Robert and Ruby (Knox) Shaver. A Warren area resident for most of her life, she graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1941. July 29, 1944 she married James R. “Dick” Adgate and in 1956 they co-founded Dick Adgate Florist. She also formerly owned and operated Betty Adgate Fashions in Warren. Betty enjoyed dancing, shopping, fishing and golf. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dick Adgate, daughter Jean M. Friend and husband Ronald of Champion, sons William “Bill” Adgate and wife Peggi of Tampa, FL, David R. Adgate of Ft. Myers, FL, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She also leaves 3 sisters Jean Shallenberger of Ft. Lauderdale, Patricia Everett and husband Donald of Titusville, FL, and Mary Lou Huston and husband Joe of Lake Worth, FL. She was preceded in death by a brother Norman Shaver and a daughter-in-law Susan Adgate. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday April 20, 2006 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday and for 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
